Introducing the board

Entity Theatre is run by the board — a team dedicated to English-language theatre.


Kate Scholes is Entity’s chair and head of the board.
Kate, a technical writer from the UK, has been involved in amateur theatre for 20 years, working both on and off stage in numerous productions in England, France and Germany. Kate joined Entity when she moved to Munich in 2013. She co-directed The 39 Steps, was costume designer/manager forA Play on WordsSleeping Beauty, and The Merry Wives of Windsor, and has led several Entity workshops. Her acting credits in Munich include: Jo in Guy Las’ The Ribbon, for which she received a nomination for the Blackie Award for Best Actress at FEATS 2014; Hilda in Alan Ayckbourn’s Neighbourhood Watch; Nancy in Bryony Lavery’s Frozen. Kate brings her organisational and project management skills to the board.

Tom Hafner is our deputy chair.
Tom, a network architect from Germany, joined Entity in 2013 as the photographer for The Women. He has been involved with almost every production since then. In the theatre, he focuses on visual, sound and technical activities, from taking photos of the cast, crew and on-stage action, designing flyers and programmes and being the ‘sound guy’, to video projection and assisting with operating the lighting. Tom was part of the tech team during FEATS 2014 and 2016. He enjoys the creativity and positive attitude in Entity, and tries to help the productions in all different aspects he can. As member of the board, he will use his organisational and technical skills to assist with productions and behind the scenes activities (website, communication and so on).

Ashok Vasudevan, as the secretary, takes care of Entity’s administrative work.
Ashok is a technical account manager and part-time theatre maker. For the past 12 years he has dabbled in acting, directing, writing, dramaturgy, and lighting for plays in India and Gemany. Ashok joined Entity when he moved to Munich in 2015. His most recent works has been dramaturgy, scenography, and lighting design for Numbers (FEATS 2017 BATS Trophy for 3rd best production), and lighting for The 39 Steps. Some of his earlier work include Beyond the land of HattamalaAfterlife of BirdsTales of KuttyRocky ka insaaf, and Talendanda. He is also the facilitator of the Entity Theatre Playreading Group. He is passionate about plays that are contemporary and thought provoking. His life philosophy is to do different things, to do things differently, and to make a difference. Joining the Entity Board is one such example, and he hopes to make a difference to the theatre scene in Munich.

Mattias Carlborg is our treasurer and looks after our finances.
Mattias, a process & systems manager from Sweden, moved to Munich in 2012. He had his first experience with Entity as an audience member when he saw A Play on Words in 2013. Hooked, he attended the open workshops shortly afterwards, then became a member in 2014. He’s been involved in most productions since. He has acted in The NoteA Midsummer Night’s DreamThe Merry Wives of WindsorAs You Like It and Aladdin – a Panto. He produced Sleeping Beauty – a Panto and The 39 Steps, and contributed to building the set and props. Mattias brings business and project management experience to the board.

Blair Gaulton is our Man Friday (member without portfolio).
Blair joined Entity in 2000 by climbing through a window as the corpse in the Real Inspector Hound. He hasn’t looked back since. Blair brings this wealth of all-round experience to the Entity Board as the ‘Member Without Portfolio’, otherwise known as our Man Friday.
