Ill Met by Moonlight by Micheál Mac Liammóir – Playreading (2026)

Entity’s playreading circle continues on 21 March 2026 with a reading of “Ill Met by Moonlight” by Micheál Mac Liammóir.

Bruenagally House in Connemara was built on the site of an old fairy fort. When the current owner, Professor Prosper, dives deeper into local folklore in an effort to debunk long-held beliefs, he and his extended family may not be ready for what comes next.

Fantasy meets reality in this atmospheric piece, first performed in 1946 at Dublin’s Gate Theatre, with Mac Liammóir drawing on the rich traditions of Irish myth and modern drama. Co-founder of the Gate, he is widely credited with opening the Irish theatre landscape to more international and experimental work, and was a great champion of the Irish language.

This event will be hosted by Sarah Ryan and will take place in the Büchersalon room at MUCCA. There is a maximum of 20 “reading” participants, so sign up quickly here.

If you are just interested in coming along to listen and discuss the play being read, that is also possible. Just mention in the registration form that you are a “listen only” participant.

This event is free for Entity Members, non-members pay 5€.
